Club 1872 is proud to support Rangers fan Robert Chapman in his efforts to raise money for SiMBA, the charity that helps those affected by the loss of a baby. Robert has shared his own experiences of losing his daughter, Sofia, here in this moving blog.
In February, Robert will host The Sofia Chapman Cup, a charity football tournament to raise funds for SiMBA. Club 1872 is delighted to be getting involved. We are hoping to have two teams of seven in the tournament. Club 1872 Board members William Cowie and Craig Houston will both take part, and we are inviting Club 1872 members/supporters to volunteer to play along with them. That means we need twelve Club 1872 members/supporters to make up the two teams. Each player will be asked to pay £12.50 for their entry fee. This will raise £90 per team, which will help pay for Cuddle Cots to be donated to various hospitals throughout Scotland. The Cuddle Cot (or Cold Cot as it was formerly known) is a cool mattress specially designed to slow down the deterioration of the baby, allowing parents to spend more time with their little one before they have to say goodbye.
The tournament will take place on 19th February at Soccerworld in Glasgow (starting at 11am). Please email us at by January 31st if you would like to take part. Club 1872 will provide t-shirts with our organisation’s logo on them for all members who take part. Depending on the number of entries, we may do a random draw to choose participants.
Those who are unable to take part, but still want to support Robert and SiMBA can donate here.
